The Christian Elementary School
The Christian Elementary School is a unique school that is committed to providing a rigorous pre-K through grade 12 Christian educational experience, in partnership with Christian parents. Our goal is to assist parents in obeying the wise biblical exhortation to “train up a child in the way that he should go.” We believe that this must be accomplished through a Christian education that is anchored in God’s Word and focused on teaching students to filter all subjects through the lens of a Christ-centered worldview.
Our mission at ECT is to teach students with the transforming truth of the Bible, inspiring academic excellence and godly character, in order that they may be prepared for higher learning and for life’s pursuits. ECT strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive in all areas of their development: academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
ECT has been recognized by the State of Kentucky as a highly-performing public school and is currently in the top 50% for math proficiency and the top 50% for reading proficiency. Students are also able to take advantage of a wide range of extra-curricular activities and programs that include sports, music, art, computer science and before/after school care.
In a Christ-centered worldview, teachers are trained to help students learn to think God’s thoughts after Him, and therefore develop a coherent Christian philosophy of education. It is essential that the mind of a student be transformed from natural to spiritual thinking, and this can only occur by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit through the gospel. This inculcation of scriptural wisdom enables the Christian teacher to instruct a student in knowledge, skill and judgment that is firmly rooted in scripture.
Educating from this perspective also teaches the student to recognize that truth is objective and can only be found in God’s Word. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only source of absolute truth, and it is the responsibility of Christian educators to teach students the enduring truths of the bible in all subjects and at all levels.
In addition, a Christian philosophy of education is clear that students are not to be isolated from the world, but are instead to be active witnesses for Christ in their communities and in their workplaces. This requires a solid education that is both academically rigorous and based on a Christian view of the world. A true Christian worldview does not compromise any area of study or reduce the quality of instruction, and it teaches students to love and serve their fellow man. In fact, this is the greatest message of all. Our hope is that this model will inspire other schools to re-examine their philosophy of education and seek out ways to incorporate a strong biblical worldview into all areas of instruction. Ultimately, this is the only way to effectively disciple students for service to Christ in a fallen world.
