How to Identify and Repair Roof Leaks
The roof is one of the most important components of your home. It protects you and your belongings from rain, snow and sunlight. It also provides a shelter to your family and pets.
Whether your roof is new or old, it requires regular maintenance to stay in good shape and prevent leaks. If a leak occurs, it can be difficult to find the source of the problem. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to help identify and repair leaky areas of your roof.
Look for shingle damage such as cracked, loose or missing shingles. If you see a lot of these problems, it’s probably time to consider a roof replacement. Stains on the ceiling of your attic are another common sign that there is a leak in your roof. These stains are usually dark in color and indicate that water is seeping through the shingles and damaging your attic and living space below.
