Electricians Needed Tools, But Not Everything

Every electrician needs the right tools and equipment, but only the top notch electricians have everything in place. You can’t be an efficient electrician if you don’t have a basic level of education and training, and you can’t expect to do the job of others without it. Even the most experienced electricians require basic tools, such as sockets, wiring tools, and extension cords, so you too can learn how to be a great electrician.

If you have never done any electrical work in your life, it’s best to at least learn the basics. To start, all you need is the basics, but you must keep your tools and materials ready to go.

To begin, purchase or rent a basic set of tools. It doesn’t matter which you purchase, it’s all the same. But if you’re looking for a good deal, renting them is definitely the way to go.

One of the most important items in every tool box is the socket wrench. Wrenches are a vital part of the electrician’s toolbox, because they help tighten and loosen bolts and nuts that are attached to power outlets. These wrenches are found in every tool box, so don’t hesitate to bring some of your own for practice.

Wire Extensions are often overlooked when working with cables. They are important for getting the right length, and a little bit of wire extension can go a long way. With a few extensions, you can extend just about any cable into a different location. The extension you need is usually the ones that are labeled ‘thru wire’thru splice’.

An electrician’s kit is a basic set of tools that almost every electrician should have. Having a basic kit makes starting out easier, but it isn’t the only type of electrician’s toolbox available, so shop around and see what is available to you.

The next item you will need is proper protective clothing to protect your body and from cuts and abrasion to your clothes. Remember to wear protective eye gear and get yourself a pair of safety glasses, gloves, safety goggles, and a shirt for both protection and insulation.

Just a few of the things electricians need when starting out is a basic set of electrician’s tools and a portable voltage tester, like an “E-Z-PAT”. After you have the basic tools, then you can decide on the type of light bulbs you want to use, and what kinds of transformers you prefer. It doesn’t really matter what type of power tool you use, but remember to get the correct electrician’s tools when starting out in this field.
